Sam
You've helped me improve my playing in the last four months. I've learned 10 songs and a lot of great techniques along the way that will improve my playing.
Ed
Tom Kitchen is an excellent instructor. He is very knowledgeable, extremely personable, and unfailingly provides me one of the most enjoyable half-hours of my week. In addition to making the guitar fun, Tom has truly maximized my potential with his creative suggestions and approaches. Tom has been my instructor for about one year, and I hope to study with him for many more years to come.
Jon
Tom was a pleasure to play and perform with. His technique is spot-on, and he brings a great creative energy to soloing and arranging. Tom really listens when he's accompanying or comping- he picks up on little rhythmic or harmonic cues from soloists, and always made me sound better over a chart. Equally importantly, Tom is always on time and organized at rehearsals.
Denise
Tom is a wonderful guitar instructor for children. Both my girls blossomed under his tutelage and looked forward to their weekly lessons. He is patient and gentle and knows how to "push" when needed. His knowledge of music as well as his professional expertise with children are an excellent combination. I recommend Tom without hesitation!
Sheila
Tom gave guitar lessons to my son and 2 friends. He was very good at working with the boys to teach them the basics of guitar playing.
Former director of the DC Youth Orchestra Program
Tom is a wonderful teacher. I had the good fortune of working with Tom for multiple seasons at the DC Youth Orchestra Program. Contract employees are often focused on the minimum expectations of the contract, but Tom was consistently and lovingly attentive to all his students and the objective of quality teaching well beyond the bounds of his required contract.
